Mahalaxmi Farm Kulcha Pickle: The Story Behind Our Mango, Garlic & Chilli Achar

Kulcha Pickle is more than just a combination of raw mango, garlic, green chilli, and spices. At Mahalaxmi Farm, it is a family-inspired pickle that brings together the bold flavours of traditional North Indian kitchens. Made in small batches, this handmade achar is created for those simple meals where one spoonful of pickle can make everything taste a little more special.

Kulcha is our family name for this pickle. Raw mango is shredded into fine strands and combined with crushed garlic and green chilli, then pickled with cold-pressed mustard oil and traditional spices. The result is a textured, savoury, and lively pickle where mango, garlic, and chilli come together in every spoonful.

Frequently asked questions

What is "Kulcha Pickle"? Is it made of kulchas or meant to be eaten with them?
It is named after an old Bhatt family tradition! This isn't made of bread; it is a signature shredded relish made from raw mango fine-strands, crushed garlic, and green chillies, tempered with spices and mustard oil. While it pairs naturally with stuffed Amritsari kulchas, it earned its name within our household as the ultimate condiment for Indian flatbreads.
What is the texture of this pickle like?
Unlike chunky ring-cut or cubed pickles, Kulcha achar has a finely shredded, spoonable texture. Every spoonful offers an even mix of soft mango ribbons, tender crushed garlic slivers, and finely sliced green chillies that spread easily over bread or mix smoothly into rice.
Is this pickle very spicy because of the green chillies?
It has a lively, sharp warmth, but it is not unbearably fiery. The pungency of the green chilli and raw garlic is gradually rounded out and softened by the tart mango juices and soothing cold-pressed mustard oil during the slow curing process.
Can I use this as a spread or sandwich chutney?
Absolutely. Its finely shredded consistency makes it ideal as a flavorful spread inside grilled cheese sandwiches, rolled into morning parathas, slathered over theplas, or served beside evening mathris.
Are the mangoes and chillies sourced from commercial markets?
No. The raw mangoes come straight from our orchards at Mahalaxmi Farm in Haldwani. We source fresh garlic and green chillies carefully and hand-process them in small batches to preserve their fresh, natural crunch.
Does it contain vinegar, MSG, or artificial thickeners?
None whatsoever. It is 100% natural, containing only raw mango, green chilli, garlic, unrefined mustard oil, salt, and coarse spices (turmeric, yellow mustard, Kashmiri chilli, fennel, nigella, and fenugreek).
Does this pickle contain mustard allergens?
Yes, it contains yellow mustard seeds and pure cold-pressed mustard oil.
How do I maintain its freshness after breaking the inner seal?
Keep the jar stored at room temperature in a dry pantry cupboard. Always avoid putting wet fingers or wet spoons inside, and lightly tap the pickle down so the mustard oil rises to the top to seal in the freshness.
How long does a jar of Bhatt's Kulcha Pickle last?
It stays fresh and potent for up to 12 months from the manufacturing date. Because the ingredients are shredded, the flavors meld together even more deeply over time.
What is your policy if the product arrives damaged or broken?
We guarantee safe delivery. If the couriers mishandle your parcel and the jar arrives broken or leaking, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with packaging photos. We will immediately arrange a replacement jar or issue a full refund.
